Christopher Nolan born in London on July 30th 1970, is a film director, screenwriter and producer. Nolan is a well renowned thriller producer with some of his famous works being The Dark Knight Trilogy and the also popular Momento. His work has had a massive impact on the thriller genre and really broadened the doors and expanded on some of the old thriller writers works. Especially with his film Inception.
Inception was also another popular and very unique film of Nolan’s. It was a thriller, but of a different kind. Unlike most thrillers in modern time that focus on death or crime. Nolan’s Inception is a more psychological thriller. With no enemy or horror techniques used, Nolan really began to expand his style of thriller and open doors for future directors to do the same or expand on his work.
Nolan often uses urban settings in his films and a dark tone often followed by men in suits is quite apparent within a lot of his films. He also says himself that all of his films are heavily influenced by film noir, which is a cinematic term often used to describe stylish Hollywood crime dramas, with dark characters and sexual motivations. By exploiting and creatively using many popular and not so popular thriller techniques Nolan is able to capture the audience's attention and manipulate their psyche and emotions like not many other film directors and screenwriters can do. Due to this varying style of thriller and his quality consistency, Christopher Nolan has a massive influence on thrillers as we know them today and will be inspiring, aspiring directors like me for many generations.

Alfred Hitchcock, born in 1899 was a famous director and producer. It was around 1920 when Hitchcock joined the film industry. He started off drawing the sets (he was a very skilled artist). In 1939, Hitchcock left England for Hollywood. The first film he made there,Rebecca (1940), won an Academy Award for best picture. Some of his most famous films include Psycho (1960), The Birds (1963) and Marnie (1964). His works became renowned for their depictions of violence, although many of his plots merely function as decoys meant to serve as a tool for understanding complex psychological characters. He described his childhood as lonely and sheltered, partly due to his obesity. He once said that he was sent by his father to the local police station with a note asking the officer to lock him away for 10 minutes as punishment for behaving badly. He also remarked that his mother would force him to stand at the foot of her bed for several hours as punishment (a scene alluded to in his film Psycho). This idea of being harshly treated or wrongfully accused would later be reflected in Hitchcock's films. Hitchcock directed more than 50 feature films in a career spanning six decades. He received the American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award in 1979.

Evaluation:
We completed this task in order to gain some information behind the true creators of the thriller genre. Looking at Christopher Nolan, helped me develop a good sense of the variety that can be seen in thrillers. And the different backgrounds that cause these thriller directors to create such trivial and exciting stories. It will help me with my own production work as taking inspiration and having almost a role model to guide us with our work will be really helpful in deciding what is effective at displaying the genre of our opening as thriller and keeping the genre consistent throughout.
